Instructions for the Preparation of Papers

Relaxed guidelines: LII focuses on quality of work, and so has only the following requirements for submissions. However, for the submissions to be considered, these guidelines however must be adhered to.

Core requirements

Ethical requirements: For studies involving data, approval must be obtained from the institution’s Ethics committee. Confirmation of adherence to ethics is required for all submissions.

Exclusive submission Policy: Legal Issues Journal operates an exclusive submission policy. Authors must confirm that their manuscript has been submitted solely to LIJ and is not currently published, in press, or submitted elsewhere.

Word length:

  • For full papers (research and reviews): No strict word limit. However, papers longer than 10,000 words (including references and footnotes) must justify the length in the cover letter.
  • For Case comments / Short reports: Maximum 2,500 words (including summary and references), or 2,000 words if tables/figures are included. Concise writing is strongly encouraged.
