Replication study preregistration

Complete this form to submit a replication study for preregistration. Submit before collecting new study data or examining outcome data.

Where a question does not apply, state this and explain why. Fields marked * are required.

General Information *

Names, affiliations, emails, ORCIDs; corresponding author.
100–250 words. State the original claim, its importance, and what the replication will test.
0 / 250 words
Briefly explain the claim’s influence, prior replication attempts, and why replication is needed.

Original Study & Target Claim *

Full reference, DOI, links to protocol/materials.
Quote/paraphrase the exact testable hypothesis; include primary outcome, effect estimate, uncertainty, and original sample size.

Fidelity & Methodology *

List missing details, attempts to obtain them, and assumptions used.
Describe activities, materials, assignment, masking.
Note deviations (setting, population, materials) and how they may affect results.

Data Status, Sampling & Recruitment *

Provide dates, who accessed data, and any prior analyses.
Define target population, inclusion/exclusion criteria, sampling frame.
Provide target N and justification (power, precision).
Exact end date or stopping criteria.

Variables & Confirmatory Analysis Plan

Define predictors, outcomes, controls, moderators.
Specify statistical models, covariates, software, and numbered hypotheses.
Rules for cleaning, exclusions, outlier handling, missing data.
Define how effect estimates and uncertainty will be compared to the original to determine replication success.

Timeline

Reviewers *

Suggest three reviewers: names, affiliations, emails, and justification.
